California 4-H Shooting SportsThe California 4-H Shooting Sports Program provides instruction in the safe handling of firearms and archery equipment, develops self-confidence and leadership abilities in 4‑H participants, and instills an appreciation for conservation and wildlife. The 4-H Shooting Sports Program is a youth development education program. It uses the skills and disciplines of shooting to assist young people and their leaders in attaining knowledge and developing essential life skills. The program follows a standardized format, lists program components and identifies clearly intended learning outcomes. Trainings Shooting Sports Volunteer Leader Course Saturday May 3, 2008 – 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Upon successful completion of this course, 4-H leaders will be certified in the shooting sports discipline of Archery. They will be certified as volunteer leaders and eligible to serve as shooting sports leaders for clubs or counties. There is a $20 fee for the course and you must register by April 25th. To get more information or register for the class contact Linda Edgington at lgegington@ucdavis.edu or call 707-463-4495. 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Certification for Archery Friday, June 13 6PM – 10 PM Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be certified as archery volunteers and can instruct archery club projects and camp programs. Attendance at both days is required. The course will be held at the Maya Bowhunter’s Range, Corner of Berry St/ Galleria Blvd in Roseville. Cost for the course will be $25 and includes morning refreshments, Saturday lunch and class materials. Drying camping is available (Friday night only) at the range. For the “Training Request & Registration Form” go to http://ca4h.org/projresource/shootingsports/index.asp or contact your county 4-H office. 4-H Shooting Sports Workshop Saturday - May 31, 2008/8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. & A Muzzle Loading Trainer course will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 31 & June 1, 2008 in Lake County, CA. To receive certification you must attend both days. Upon successful completion of the course the participants will be certified as Muzzle Loading Trainers and will be able to conduct leader trainings as well as lead club projects. Cost for the course is $25 and includes meals and class materials. Breakfast and lunch will be provided both days. You must be an appointed 4-H leader to attend. Teen Leaders are encouraged to attend, with an adult, at no cost. Though Teen Leaders can not lead a project, they will benefit from the experience and training regarding the shooting sports project.
